Missing Folders in Folder Tree?

Not sure if this is the proper forum -- please move my message if it's not.
Every time I use WildEdit, several folders do not appear in the folder tree on the left-hand side. The only way around it, it seems, is to "share" the folder (in a network places), then search for it in the Network Places tab in the folder tree.
Am I doing something wrong?

Try this, goto My Computer->Tools->Map Network Drive, after that you should see your folder under the drive letter you select. I hope this helps.

Are you using WildEdit 1.1? If so, have you enabled the options to search for Hidden and System folders?

You've lost me. I know this exists in the My Computer folder, but I don't think that's the problem. Why would I map a network drive to a folder on my desktop?

I created a shared folder in My Documents and it shows up in WE1.1 on XPproSP2.
The My Band Website folder also seems to be missing, is that a share?
There is also diffrent sort order for the My PSP Files and My PSP8 Files folders, so I'm guessing WE1.1 has yet to use the intuitive file ordering XP offers in Explorer.

Right. That's what I've been doing. But it seems counter-intuitive. One must "share" folders so they can be viewed?

The folder tree is created by instructing Windows to enumerate all its drives and folders. "My Documents" does not get enumerated by this method, because it actually exists at "C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\My Documents". I guess your other missing folders are also special links through the registry, rather than physical directory nodes in the file system.

Gotcha. But it's funny, because these folders -- the ones that are missing -- are websites, and the ones I specifically want to use WildEdit for. Now, the question is, what's the resolution? Again, I see these folders in every other software, even in TextPad. So how to I work around it? Or is "sharing" the only possible way?

By the way, just so you know, that's how I access my documents -- documents and settings/user/my documents... and this is where there are missing folders.
