When I have multiple documents open in tabs, and I close the active one, focus shifts to the document at the far right of the tab list. This is not what I want. I want focus to shift the one next in line (i.e., the one whose tab is immediately to the right of the tab I just closed). Can I get this?
Also, trying to use Ctrl-Tab/Ctrl-Shift-Tab to navigate among tabs is annoying. It doesn't follow the tab order, but instead seems to remember which tab I was last at and consider that the "Previous" tab. Is there any way to tell it "move to the tab immediately left/right of this tab in the tab bar"?
Thanks.

I'm afraid your request falls into the enhancement category.
FYI
The document tabs are toggled as follows:
Ctrl+tab, releasing the Ctrl button each time, will switch between the last and previous documents.
Ctrl+tab, holding the Ctrl button down, will switch documents in the order that they are cascaded in the TextPad window. This order changes as each document is brought to the front. Cascading the windows may help you to see what is happening.

Well, then, I'd definitely like to see this feature added. I'd consider it part of what I want with the "reordering tabs in workspace" feature that's been mentioned on here before. What I would like is for the order of the tabs in the tab bar to be definable, and for that order to define the order in which they cycle when I use the next/previous shortcuts. Thanks.

Here's the problem with this scheme. I often open several files and have to make a single change in each. I want to be able to make the change, hit Ctrl+Tab, make the change in next file, hit Ctrl+Tab again, make the change... etc. But this doesn't happen, because the second time I hit Ctrl+Tab I'm taken to the previous (already changed) document.helios wrote: Ctrl+tab, releasing the Ctrl button each time, will switch between the last and previous documents.
I then have to keep pressing Ctrl+Tab and watch the tabs carefully to make sure I land on a document I haven't edited yet, or I have to save and close each document after editing, which isn't always convenient. The problem is made worse by the fact that, with larger documents, there is a small but visible delay between the keypress and the reaction, i.e. the tab being switched to isn't displayed immediately.
Please understand that this *is* confusing and slows down such operations a lot. Ctrl+Tab should always switch to the next tab to the right, shift+ctrl+tab should always switch to the next tab to the left. This way you can move between tabs on the autopilot so to speak, without having to carefully monitor the tabs.
Thanks a lot,
