Suggestion: integrated text file comparison tool?

One of the features often found in text editors is a text file comparison tool. Now, one of the things I like about TextPad is that it does it's basic job well without too much bloat, but I have wondered many times whether file comparison (possibly 3-way á la diff3) is a legit new feature.
If added it should have most of the the features found in Emacs ediff package, including semi-automatic merging from a to b and b to a, and be able to work on files that aren't saved (in current form) on disk (as well as files that are?).
I quite like those file compares that have lines linking the two files as it's easy to get an overview, but OTOH the emacs way is easier to actually use when merging.
