Under
Configure - Preferences - View
check whether
Stay on top of other windows
is checked.
If so, uncheck it.
Alt+Tab problems

Hi Darren,
if you can use Alt+Tab to switch programs other than TextPad, I'd guess it's TextPad related one way ot other.
You might have changed the keyboard settings to let Alt+Tab do something other than switch to the next program window.
To check this do the following
- Open textPad
Go to Configure | Preferences
Select the 'Keyboard' item in the left hand side tree view
In the 'Categories' list select 'All'
Click on the 'List' button
Clease that dialog
Now you search fo rsomething like "Alt+Tab" in the new file. How hte binding is listed
exactly seems to depend on your TextPad and/or Win language settings, but searching for "Alt+Tab" should work anyway.
If there
is an entry which maps "Alt+Tab" to a key, you might try to remove that special key binding using the dialog mentioned above,
Hope that helps
Stephan

thanks but its not that.
i should also add that it plays up when you try and swicth to another app
by using the icons on the task bar.
you have to minimize textpad in order to get to other apps.

I had this problem, too. In fact, I used to have an older version of TextPad - maybe 4.3.1? - and I upgraded to 4.7.2 today because I didn't see this thread in the forums. After the upgrade, still had the same problem.
It fixed it to uncheck the "stay on top of other windows" (Thanks, MudGuard!).
But I have no idea how it got checked in the first place. Very mysterious.
