Visible Spaces Option and Nonbreaking Spaces Problem

Post by MudGuard »

Hello,

I get some strange behaviour with nonbreaking spaces.
I have Visible spaces switched on.
But only some of the nonbreaking spaces appear with the double dot.

Look at the picture:
Image

Line one has some nonbreaking spaces after the word "dummy" and after the word "nonbreaking" - these are not shown in the same way as those nonbreaking spaces in line 3 or four.
But they are nonbreaking spaces - if I select one of the double-dotted nonbreaking spaces and do a find, on each find-next the selection hops to the next nonbreaking space - independent of whether it is displayed correctly.

(note: usually, I have a smaller font and more decent colors set - I did these settings temporarily to make the problem more visible on the screenshot)

Textpad version is 4.7.2, on a Win2K SP4 system.

Does anyone else have this problem?
Is there a solution to get all nonbreaking spaces displayed with the double-dot?

Hi Mudguard,

On my system I cannot reproduce this behaviour (XP sp1, TP 4.7.2).

But usually I do not use this option, so I have just tried it on about 25 documents (C-source, html, 'normal' textfiles, asm-source, AutoIt-sources, Perl-scripts, Javascript, CSV-files). Not all of these have been created with TP, but all of these are displayed flawlessly on my system.

I also tried a lot of other font-types and -widths to display these texts, but to no avail either.

Good luck!

Alex
