Close Document Selector in Brief Mode

Post by jpjpjp »

I'm very happy to have found a new editor that does a decent brief emulation.

One problem I've observed is that there doesn't seem to be any way to close the Document Selector window with the keyboard if brief keyboard emulation is on.

With TextPad emulation F11 toggles the DocSelector.

With Brief emulation Alt-B brings up the DocSelector but does not close it. There seems to be no way to add a keyboard shortcut for this.

WISH: To truly emulate brief it would be great if Alt-B brought up the DocSelector and then once you selected a file it would disappear automatically. (or you could hit Esc without selecting anything)

OBSERVATION: The Help "How to Use the Document Selector" states that Esc will close the DocSelector. This doesn't seem to be true with any keyboard emulation.

Thanks,

Configure->Preferences->Keyboard->Categories(View)->Commands(ViewDocSelector).
Assign to your hearts content, I assigned both F11 and Alt-B to it and it works fine. HTH
Then I open up and see
the person fumbling here is me
a different way to be

By default in the brief keymap Alt-B is set to "ActivateSelector" which pops up the DocSelector and puts the focus in it.

Setting Alt-B to "ViewDocSelector" does allow one to toggle its visibility, but it doesn't put the focus in it.

To truly emulate brief Alt-B would put the focus in the DocSelector which would automatically dissapear when something was selected.

But I won't be greedy. I'll happily map Alt-B to ViewDocSelector if there is an easy way with the keyboard to put the focus into that window after toggling it into view mode...is there?

Thanks!
