Configurable Pasting

Post by thedew »

TextPad will insert tabs into the middle lines when you paste multi-line text. For example, if I copy the four "Indented Text" lines below, not including the whitespace before the first I,

Code: Select all

Non-Indented Text
   Indented Text
   Indented Text
   Indented Text
   Indented Text
and paste it at the same indentation level below the copied lines, TextPad will produce the following.

Code: Select all

Non-Indented Text
   Indented Text
   Indented Text
   Indented Text

   Indented Text
      Indented Text
      Indented Text
   Indented Text
This doesn't happen if you make sure to copy from the beginning of the line but I like to start my copying from the first non-whitespace character. So after I paste, I find myself Shift-TABing the middle lines to get the indentation correct...and that can get pretty old quickly. Other editors don't do things this way, so why not have a configuration option that allows you to paste the way other editors do?
