User Tool Icons

It would be nice if we can change the icons for each user tool. Right now it's the same image with the number 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.

If an application has an icon, Textpad could use that icon for that tool.

If an appication doesn't have an icon, however, (a batch file, for example), then it's difficult to see where that icon could come from. Not all text editor users are au fait with creating ".ico" files.

You can get the icon from an executable or DLL. Remember MORICONS.DLL?

It could use the application's icon by default, or let you pick an icon, in the same way Windoze does when you look at the properties of a shortcut.

It's possible to change the icons by hacking TextPad.exe; however, it might violate the TextPad license.

This would really make a difference. Then one can have nice toolbars turned on. A list of only hammers is really silly and un-usable.
(Though I mostly use the keyboard to get to the tools anyway. But the eye cannot be ignored.)
