Enable CTRL-ALT-G behaviour with Google Deskbar

After installing Google Deskbar (http://www.toolbar.google.com/deskbar) all applications bar TextPad work as expected when I highlight some text and hit CTRL-ALT-G, i.e. Google Deskbar is launched to search for the highlighted text. With TextPad, Google Deskbar is launched but the search text is whatever was copied (Edit -> Copy) last in TextPad.
