every time i get an IM through trillian 2 pro (which happens often, since it's the preferred IM here at work), textpad completely locks & i have to kill it via the task manager. any idea what's going on? this never happened in previous releases.

thanks!

If by "notepad" you mean TextPad, I'll go along with this! ;)
Pure guesswork here, but does the Trillian Pro invoke a virus scanner?
If so, see if you can disable your scanner for text files. See also in the

There should be no interaction between TextPad and any other application, unless that application is deliberately hooking Windows messages or API calls. Typically, only a debugger or diagnostic tool would do that.

I've installed Trillian Basic 0.74F on XP Pro, and sent it messages from Windows Messenger, without any problems. Perhaps you should report this issue to Cerulean Studios, as I'd rather not have to purchase a copy of their Pro version. If you get a response, please send me a copy via a private message.

i checked and can't find any interaction with trillian and av software, unless it's receiving a file (and then it's voluntary). i've sent a note to cerulean to see if they have any idea what's going on; i'll be sure to keep you updated.

Thanks!

Do you have textpad listed in Prefs -> General->Msg Hist ->Viewer ?

If so switch it back to notepad

got it!

finally heard back from cerulean tech support. unchecking the "auto-show message history in window" option under preferences --> message history did the trick!

thanks for everyone's help!
