Journal of last accessed documents

It would be great to have a new function (ie "Show Journal" ) similar to a "view call stack" on a debugger.
This function will display a window or screen buffer with a journal list of the last open documents accessed during the last x hours, days etc. , each document with the last line number before a switch to an other document was done.
The user could click on any document line and be switched to this document and positioned at this line number.
This is very usefull when programming and having lot of program files loaded in the workspace, and difficult to remember what files did you see lately and you want to go back to one of them.
The current ctrl-tab combination is not suitable for this when you have a large number of opened files, and the requirement is to choose( without having to display all the files) one of the files you have been editing of watching, among let's say the last 8 files you were in.
