I often view/edit fixed width data files. It would be nice to be able to see the field/record boundaries on the screen instead of having to look at the column position/line number. You could have an option to define the field widths in a "data file profile" and be able to specify this profile when viewing a data file.

The visual enhancements could be as simple as alternating background colours (pale grey/white ??) for each field, and optionally something similar for rows (or perhaps a horiontal underline for the current row)
