Using textpad "Tail" feature prolematic across net

I use the "tail" feature of textpad extensively. I am able to monitor many log files easily by allowing textpad to auto-update.
Under "prefrences", "File", I checked off "Ignore differences if modification times less than 2 seconds".
But this option needs to be a fill in, for N number of seconds.
Problem I have is, if the file is large, then texpad almost locks up. What happens is the file is reloaded, by the time it has, it detects the file is updated and starts to reload again. When this occurs, I basically lose control of textpad, and unless I get real lucky with "alt-f, c" I must shut down textpad to regain control.
Please allow users to set the seconds, do not assume 2 seconds is good enough for everyone.
