Missing characters on display

I just downloaded and installed Textpad on my new computer (Sony Viao with ATI Radion 9200, XP home, SP1 and all patches).
When I type a line, all or part of the last character of the line is missing. I do not have this problem in any other program, just textpad. Any thoughts on what this could be?
I am running 1200x1600 on a Viewsonic VP211b, but I dropped the resolution to 600x800 and have the same problem.
