Document Classes not working after reinstall

I've browsed the forums and haven't been able to find something similar to my problem.
I had an old version of TextPad (3.2.5) installed in C:\Program Files\TextPad. I installed a newer version (4.6.2) into the default area (C:\Program Files\TextPad 4). I then realized that all of my file extensions were still associated with the older version. Not wanting to keep the older version around, I uninstalled 4.6.2 through Windows Add/Remove programs. After that, not being able to locate an uninstall for the old version, I simply reinstalled 4.6.2 into the TextPad folder that the old version was installed in. Okay, everything is fine.
Problem was that when opening a .txt file or a .java file, TextPad complained about some sort of path not found error and the .txt or .java file displayed all black - ie. the Document Class definitions for .txt and .java seem to have been lost.
Strange thing is that the .html document class (as well as others) still seem to be working.
Hoping that I could simply update the Document Class, I went into Configure->Preferences->Document Classes->Java and unchecked something and then rechecked it to make the Apply button come on. I clicked Apply and then OK. This had no effect whatsoever.
Since then I have uninstalled, and deleted files and folders, and then reinstalled. No change. Reinstalled again, still no change.
So my question is how the heck do I get my .txt & .java document classes back. I'm assuming there is some registry setting somewhere. Is there any way to do a complete uninstall that will wipe my machine clean of all TextPad related info? Seems like a reinstall should have fixed this problem.
Anyway, any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.
