Need tabs or leading spaces in message for this forum

How do I get a tab or even leading spaces in a message?

Ummm hit the tab key in a word processor, copy the results and paste in the forum?
Not intended to be a sarcastic response by the way.

What about the Code tag?
Code: Select all
10 or so spaces in front of these lines
sdfg dfsg
dfghfdh

I tried typing spaces and they got dropped.
Here I'm trying the other suggestion of using 'code'.
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work either.
I prefixed the first two lines with 10 and 5 spaces in between code & /code.<br><br><br>
I just tried a few 'br's

Okay, I get it.
The whole thing is in one code tag.
