1. open a document
2. select some text (not all text)
3. click Search >> Replace
4. press Ctrl-A
All the text in the document window is selected. Ctrl-A should operate on the "Find what" and "Replace with" fields.
Thanks,
Kip

Why do you say this::?:
Ctrl-A should operate on the "Find what" and "Replace with" fields.
The default function for the Keyboard shows CTRL-A for SelectAll. The Main Menu, selecting Edit, shows CTRL-A for Select All
Is there some other location in the TexPad documentation that says
CTRL-A works differently than Selecting all text in the document?
Or is this just your suggestion about what you would like it to do? To me, this sounds like an Enhancement Request vs. a Bug. Maybe I missed something? Wouldn't be the first time.

For one .. if you carry out those specific actions you listed, when you click search /replace ... the selected text will be in the find what field already selected .. so whats the point of select all??
For 2... Did I miss something ??

What is it you want Ctrl+A to be doing in the Search and Replace Dialog?
Not every command in the Edit group is intended to work on every window. Ctrl+A in the Clip Book also selects all the text in the file, not in the clip book. You can't change case, for example...that also works on the main text even if you have the S&R window open. You need to have this work this way so you can do things like keep the S&R window open while doing multiple searches, select words to paste into the dialog, etc.
Ctrl+A is pretty standard all round for Select All and I can't see how it would be of any value in the Search and Replace Dialog.
I mus a mis a ting a 2
AH! Maybe I see! He wants to select all the text in one or the other of "Find What?" or "Replace With". Yes? ?? You can do that by Right Clicking in the whatever they callum edit box itself and clicking Select All...But you can't use Ctrl+A.
ant furthermore! If one clicks in (I gotta learn the name for the text entry box itself) and then clicks Edit>Select all...one has changed the focus from the Search & Replace to the Main Window again...you could never beat that one if that was what kip was doing.
nunless I miss a sum thin

Hey, good work Mike...I think you got it!

I agree, that sounds like what was being looked for.
But if you want to copy the entire field, this is easy to do. Forget about the Main Menu and losing focus. Just right click in the Find/Replace field, the entire field will be highlighted. Then left click on Copyon the context menu that pops up, and you've got it. I know, I know......it's not a keyboard solution.
But I want to re-ask my original question....is this a BUG?

I don't think so. CTRL-A does exactly as it is supposed to do. I think the title of this subject should be changed. Unfamiliar, potential users, may scan titles of forum and think the product is buggy, which it is NOT!
Enuf from me.................have a good night....
