In another forum I just found this tool:

Visual Regexp

It is very nice for visually testing what your regex will match (you can provide your own sample text!)

Thanks, MudGuard, for this reference. It seems like a neat tool, though it's not 100% clear how to use it.

Strange how you have to download all the insntallation files individually (exe, ini, readme).
