Cntl Break Fails to stop execution of Java pgm

Using TextPad 4.7.1 to run a java program the Cntl Break refuses to stop the execution. I am running XP Pro and j2sdk1.4.2. Also when I specify Capture Output on the Run command nothing appears until the execution is finished. When I try the same on a Win2k machine everything works fine.
Is this a bug with XP Pro or am I missing some setup parm?
