how to select column in a large file

I am using version 4.6.2. I am wondering if it has a function to select column in a large file. The common ALT+LEFT doesn't work well for large file. Thanks a lot.

- Configure->Block Select Mode
- Goto the column you want to select
- Shift Right (or left) as you need
- Shift Ctrl End
Works for me on a file with about 200000 lines.
