Problem with Microsoft patch and TextPad.

After installing the Microsoft update (Windows2000-KB823980-x86-ENU_rpcpatch.exe) to our file servers we are having problems opening files with extensions other than DAT or DOC. Patch deals with RPC/DCOM isuues.
TextPad hangs in the middle of opening the file. Happens with current and older versions of textpad.
Files will open fine on Local machines. Any ideas/suggestions?
