I have an epson c40x and if I try to print in color and use normal settings, I get about 150 lines to a page which is too small to read.

If I set it to economy mode, then it prints about 70 lines to a page but is too light to read.

Any suggestions?

Check out the font settings under whatever document class is appropriate. From the menu bar select configure / preferences then Document Classes and check out what font is set for pronting use. YOu might need to look at the default document class or at a specific one if it applies to the type of document you are trying to print.
