hello.
when i try to associate textpad to open any file type (in my case .PHP) by changing the "Open With" either by right-clicking on a corresponding file or in the "File Types" tab in "Folder Options", and choose the "Select the program from a list" option, TextPad doesn't show up in the Programs list. Then, when I click on "Browse" and select "Textpad.exe" from its location in "C:\Program Files\Textpad 4", it doesn't do anything.
is my XP Home broken? why isn't TextPad in the list of programs? is this something i can change by changing the registry? and why can't i capitalize correctly or stop writing run-on sentences?

Have you tried to associate files to Textpad from within Textpad?

Configure - Preferences - Associated Files...

aargh. no, because that's too obvious. i could have just looked that up in textpad help. being a programmer and now a dumb user, i've just become my own worst enemy... sorry to all whose time i've trashed. and thanks to MudGuard for stating the obvious. bye now.
