This may be possible with regular expressions, but I don't know enough about that to do it:
How about a two-level search:
Find this:
Then find this (regular expression) and make this change (replace):
I have a case where the only identifiable feature I can use to find a thing is not contiguous to what I want to find and replace and what I want to find and replace is too common to search for directly <p>(.)</p>
You couldn't say: find "feature *<p>" because of intervening <p>s.
Another way of saying (doing) this would be to ask for the ability to open two instances of the Find/Search and Replace dialog.
