I hope this isn't a silly question, but I tried to install into the
\program files\textpad\ folder where my previous version is, and it fails saying that it cannot overwrite readme.txt. Is this a problem with the installer or am I doing something wrong?

well, I tried just renaming the readme.txt file to readme.txt.old and the installation went OK - I noticed that the error msg said failure to create directory \program files\textpad\readme.txt - why the readme got involved with the directory name I don't know, but no directory was created, just a readme file IN the directory

I had this same thing happen to me and it was driving me nuts . . . until I realized I had to rename the readme file.
