Turning off UTF-8 file signature in 4.6

In TextPad 4.6 UTF-8 files are always saved with the signature bytes (BOM).
It would be very desirable for the user to be able to turn this feature off.

Note: I saw this message in the General forum, but I have the same problem.

Agreed!

Yes I would like to see this feature as well. Its nice that Textpad can save in utf-8 and unix for my purposes but I need the BOM gone and unfortunately have to use another program to take it out...

Take a look at the current version of Textpad.

It has exactly the option you want:
Write Unicode and UTF-8 BOM

(also it has the option to select UTF-8 as default encoding for files in a document class)

Yay
