How important is it to you, to have this feature implemented into future versions of TextPad?

Important, even if the size/efficiency of TextPad increases/degrades

Auto-save empty workspaces

Post by jeffy »

Please add an option to automatically save changes to the workspace when there are zero files, particularly when TextPad is exiting.

My TextPad icon isn't just

Code: Select all

C:\applications\textpad\TextPad.exe
it's

Code: Select all

C:\applications\textpad\TextPad.exe c:\applications\textpad\workspace\textpad.tws
This way, the files I used last time always reopen the next time I open TextPad.

The reason I request this change? It's annoying when I close all files, and then shutdown TextPad, that it always asks me "Save changes to workspaces?". I'd like to have it default to yes on application close.

It's always puzzled me as to why Textpad does this, as Textpad automatically saves the workspace when you open a new one.

There should at least be an option, as jeffy described.

However, it would be even better if there were be a property that makes a workspace "unchangeable" so that it always loads in it's original form (changes to the workspace aren't saved), rather annoying the 95% of users who prefer Textpad's default behaviour (always save).
