textpad hangs after opening a java program, it displays the source but stops there. If I go to the task bar to attempt to close it displays the options but they never go away or do anything, it's like it's not doing a refresh of screen. I am using windows 2000 server. The product works fine on my laptop but the workstation hangs. It was working fine until I attempted to install arachnophilia. Since this problem I have deinstalled arachnophilia and textpad, clean the registry of both and then reinstalled textpad. It works to enter java programs and save them, but try to open one and it hangs.

This product is great and I need to fix this for my workstation as I use it for Perl, HTML, JAVA, and text files.

This problem may be due to your virus checker.

If you are using the Mcafee virus checker on the Server, they recommend installing service pack 1 for net shield. Some Symantec products, and Computer Associates eTrust Antivirus products may also be affected.

If this is relevant to you, and you haven't already done so, please try installing this update, and then let us know if it fixes the problem.


If this isn't the solution, then please try implementing the following procedure in TextPad:

From the Configure menu choose:

1. Preferences
2. File
3. Under the heading "When files are modified by another process", check "Ignore"
4. Click Apply / OK.
