Is there any way in TextPad to change the characters that are used for finding matching braces?

What I would like to do is to be able to find distinct patterns for opening markers and closing markers (one set active at a time) that may be more than one character long.

I need this to be flexible since the patterns that I have to match will change often (select opening and closing patterns from a dropdown combo box). If this pattern list can be saved in the registry and recalled that would be great.

Defining your own (one character) braces is a great idea. It'd be cool to have multi-character braces sounds great, too, but feels like a much more major change.
