Swing doesn't appear to work properly when using TextPad.
Do I have to change the JDK commands to include the .jar files or something?

I use it for Swing all the time. What errors are you getting?

textpad got nothng to do with java run time.

u use textpad to write the code, not to run java application.
even the compiling is done by java JDK, not textpad.
