A neat feature which i found to of use in other editors is brace/bracket highlighting and matching. It makes it a lot easier to keep track of heavily nested or complex code ...

is there an option somewhere in TextPad 4 to turn this on ?

Sorry to say this. RTFM.
You cannot permanently highlight braces/brackets in TextPad. You can however match them.

You can match braces, brackets with

Search, Match bracket (Ctrl-M)
