The question of how to have the TextPad icon used to reflect text documents has been asked and all the answers seem to pertain to Win 98. We are directed to go to Tools>>Folder Options>>File Types>>Advanced

The Advanced button is not an available option. How then can the TextPad or any icon be associated with files in Win2K?

In order to apply the TextPad icon to a file type, you need to make the association in TextPad, rather than in Explorer. The Advanced button will then appear in Explorer. Please implement the following procedure:

From the Configure menu choose:

1. Preferences
2. Associated Files
3. Add the file extension
4. Click Apply / OK.

In Explorer:

From the Tools menu in Explorer choose:

1. Folder options
2. File types
3. Select the file extension from the list
4. Click on Advanced
5. Change Icon
6. Select the TextPad icon
7. Click OK

I hope this helps.
