Max number of lines

Is there a cap to the number of lines a Textpad file will display? It seems to be dying out on me on line 3,174,771, meaning, I can see more lines as it's opened, but if I do anything to the file, it turns to garbage on that line and below. Initial thoughts is that it's just too big for Textpad to handle.
Any thoughts??
