TextPad and Netscape 4.7

Hello,

Someone must have seen this problem before, but I haven't found any comments concerning it so far in the archived forum messages here.

I use Netscape 4.7 as my default browser (on purpose!). If an HTML document is loaded in TextPad and I click the browser button (the little globe), an error box pops up, then Netscape loads anyway and finally displays the file.

The error box is labeled "HTML Browser" and the message is "The system cannot find the file specified." I have to click the okay button to close the error box. Let me emphasize that the file DOES display properly, despite the message.

If Netscape is already loaded, there is no error message. And if I use IE instead (ugh!), again there is no error message. And if I set up a separate tool in TextPad to load a file in Netscape, again everything works fine. The tool approach is okay, but I really want to use the more colorful globe button.

It's only when using the (convenient and attractive) globe button that the message appears (assuming Netscape isn't already loaded up).

I should mention that I only want one instance of Netscape to appear, so turning off the DDE stuff in Windows doesn't appeal to me.

Has anybody else seen this?

Thanks,

Thomas Henry
