Here's what I got from them recently. The same old runaround:

Hello

Thank you for your interest in TextPad.

TextPad is in a constant state of development, but I cannot divulge our
plans for the next major release, at this stage.

Kind regards,

Sandra Rawlinson
Helios Software Solutions

Rotten means decay. I cannot see textpad getting worse so stop winning.

Very strange indeed. :o(

What happened to the maintenance release scheduled for August?

I still use TextPad regularly but feel that other editors are gaining ground especially when they offer features that TextPad doesn't. I *do* want to use TextPad as my default editor but already use another two for various reasons. If anyone from Helios is reading this then an announcement is needed. Saying that you cannot divulge plans is not acceptable. You *can* divulge something but you have chosen not to and some of your intended market do not like youtr decision.

If they are in the process of a "major" upgrade, will we all have to buy new licenses? Well, if its worth it, I guess I won't mind, especially if it keep TextPad alive.

The next release will be a maintenance release, so no new licenses need to be purchased.

I spose if/when it becomes TextPad 5, we'll all need to buy new versions. Perhaps they'll make it an expiring licence like DigiGuide in the UK (I suppose you pay 6.99 a year to get the TV listings, but the client software to display them is free. Very good value (and highly recommended!) - www.digiguide.co.uk I think it's also available for some EU channels, and for the US too)
