Commas not recognised as sysntax word boundaries

Hi,
I have a problem with highlighting the following sentance:
command WORD, x
I have defined "coomand" and "WORD" in a syntax file, but WORD doesn't get highlighted unless I put a space between WORD and the comma.
I realise that syntax-file words usually jave spaces following them, but in this case there is a real (and natural) need to have a comma following it.
Does anyone know a way around this?
Thanks, Glen
