Setting a Default Save Folder

I have the same problem with TextPad 4.5.0 (32 bit version) that Ron Stonehouse did, and Andreas's suggestion does not help with it.
The four options in the left panel of the Save box are: History, Desktop, My Computer, and My Network Places. None of these is any use to me. The default I want to set is C:\Docs\Textfils, but I cannot find out how to edit any of the Save to choices or add my own.
I've tried! I have edited Configure | Preferences | Folders to show C:\Docs\Textfils for Startup, but this makes no difference. I have edited the properties of the TextPad shortcut icon to start up in C:\Docs\Textfils; no use. I have also edited the registry key: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Helios\TextPad 4\Folders so that [Default] is also C:\Docs\Textfils, but that makes no difference either.
The version of Windows that I'm using is Windows ME 4.90.3000
Which compatibility mode have I selected in TextPad? If this is Keystroke Compatibility, I've selected TextPad. If it's the setting in: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Helios\TextPad 4\Compatibility, [Default] is [Value not set].
Seems to me this used not to be a problem, and as the above suggests, I have a hunch that it's a registry setting, but I haven't been able to pin it down, and I may be wrong.
Thanks in advance for any help.
