opening very large files

When opening very large files (eg 300Mb text files) I find that Textpad takes a very long time to open them, the disk churns away and life becomes intolerable. Anyone know if there is any plans for Textpad to open large files 'virtually' - ie only actually loading the text of the part of the file I'm looking at, etc?

Reply link no longer active. I have this same problem. A 5Mb file takes almost a minute to load and I have 1Gb of memory on my computer. What's the answer (please)?

You might try UltraEdit for these larger files. It seems to work well since I opened a 195Mb file in less than 3 seconds on my machine. Just go with what works for you.

That's what I've been doing, K. I don't LIKE doing it, but I'll have to in order to access my files.
