TextPad 4.5 locks up

Hi. TextPad 4.5 has been working wonderfully for me the past few months. I have a Windows2000 workstation, and our server is NT 4.0.
We just upgraded our server to Windows 2000 this weekend and now when I try to open up TextPad, it opens, however, that's all it does. I can't minimize it, nothing. I have to go through task manager to end it. I've tried rebooting, still does the same thing.
Has anyone had this same experience? How do I resolve this problem?
Thanks for your help!

Oops! I forgot to mention, that TextPad doesn't lock up like this until I try to access one of my exisiting java programs. If I don't open any files, it doesn't lock up.
Thanks again!

Me again!! I can open up files on my hard drive OK. Just files on the server are the ones that lock it up!

Jennifer--
Its funny you should mention this. I am encountering the same problem, today. In my case, it seems that here on our network the FindFirstChangeNotification API is constantly (and erroneously) signaling a change notification handle... or something like that. I've talked to our network guy about this, and he's currently stumped.
It seems that one workaround is changing the Configure->Preferences...->File option "When files are modified by another process:" to Ignore.
I know that's lame, because its such a cool feature, but it seems to get the job done.
Jacob.
BTW: other applications that we use here are exhibiting odd behavior due to this problem, so I hope that [network] things get fixed.

A little follow-up, for anyone interested: It turns out (surprise of surprises) that McAfee Virus scan was running amok on our fileserver. We discovered this thanks to
http://www.sysinternals.com/. There is a freeware application there called FileMon [
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/filemon.shtml], that displays all the file system activity in real-time (it is oh so cool). Anyway, we ran this on the server and it became quite apparent, quite quickly, that a little process called mcshield.exe was doing quite a lot more than it ought to in important directories. Anyway, maybe using this utility to analyze other misbehaving servers could help solve problems elsewhere...
Jacob.

Jacob,
Thanks for mentioning McAfee running amok. I had the exact same problem as described above, and it turns out it was McAfee NetShield 4.5 causing Textpad to hang. Unfortunately, the only thing that I could do was to disable "When files are modified by another process" as well.
Thanks again.
