It's generally a sort of protection against spammers and trolls. The host name is removed, you will notice. We only see the domain of your service provider. This is to let any potential trouble makers know that the forum admins can and will track them down.
There is no protection against a good hacker but if you're feeling paranoid take a look at a couple of these and get back to work.
