Recognizing SHTML files as HTML documents

I have Web pages using both .HTML and .SHTML extensions. I was able to play with file types in Windows 98 to get TextPad to display both file types when opening Web pages (file type listed as *.HTML, *.HTM in the Open dialog), but now that I've got a Windows XP machine, I can't seem to achieve the same result. I've created a file type of SHTML, defined as an HTML Document, and attempted to give it the same properties as HTML files, but XP offers less flexibility in defining file types that Windows 98 did. So far, everything I've tried has failed to let TextPad treat SHTML files the same as HTML files in the Open dialog. I wish TextPad would have such a feature built in (SHTML files should, by default, be treated as HTML text files). Better still, TextPad ought to allow the user to filter the displayed files in Open according to document classes or other customizable categories.

Anyone know how to get TextPad under Windows XP to treat SHTML files as HTML documents in Open? (I'm at jeff@jefflindsay.com.)

In Textpad, go to Configure/Preferences/File Name Filters, select the HTML entry in the top list, then change description and/or Wild Cards to fit your needs.

Then, to get Syntax highlighting for shtml as well, go to Configure/Preferences/Document Classes/HTML and add the necessary entries.
