2 syntax-files for 1 extension

Is it posible to use 2 .syn files for 1 extension? E.g. for php4 the html and the php4 syntax.
No.
I've experimented with doing some basic merging of files to support multiple protocols, but it can be cumbersome and lead to incorrect syntax use if you use it as much of a guide.
