I do a lot of editing in which it is important to see the white space characters such as tab and carriage returns. I always turn on visible spaces when I start TextPad. Is is possible to have visible spaces turned on by default? It's not a big thing to hit the toolbar button, but it would be nice to start TextPad with visible spaces already on.

With NO documents open (close all workspaces and blank documents):

Click on the [view hidden characters] button... (eg. set it)

Now, open any file/workspace you want...

Presto! All hidden characters will be visible!
