Access denied with TextPad only

When I tried to open a file on a shared network folder where I only have read permissions TextPad4 tells me "Access denied" but I can open the same file with e.g. notepad.
I guess this is due to the fact TextPad tries to create a temporary working copy of this file in the same folder but it can't because of the permissions.
How can I configure TextPad to use a different folder for this temporary working file or prevent it from using a temporary file?
Or I'm totally wrong and it's a different reason?

Thanx Joerg

I was having the same problem - "access denied" trying to get to a file. However, I had full write access to the file and directory. (This was in Windows 2000.) I upgraded to TextPad 4.5, and the problem seemed to go away. I don't know if this will help others, but it worked for me...

I am having this same "Access Denied" problem, but I am running TextPad 4.5. Any other suggestions? I have Windows 2000.

I was having this problem, and even though this thread is old, I thought I'd reply to it in case it happens to someone else.

I was running Samba 2.2.3 with a folder shared off of a Linux machine. I would open the file through TextPad on my win2000 machine, then attempt to open another, but OH! It hung for 10 seconds and replied "access denied". What the?? I had FULL access across the board. Hmmm.

It seemed to be a problem with my Samba instead of TextPad. I checked my message logs on my linux machine and sure enough, something was going screwwwwwy.

I reinstalled samba to it's recent version and TextPad works fine. For those who don't have access to the file share's host, bug the admin that does.

I have also this pb for access file on UNIX machine via SAMBA
I think it could be due configuration post textpad/Windows 2000 because before I used also texpad under windows NT4 and I didn't have this problem.
for information I have also this pb when i would save a new file on this shared folder
Now, this pb arrives frequently (under Windows 20000
Before I had sometimes only pb I/O error when i would save (or rewrite) a modifed file
