Opening files in multiple subdirectories

Does anybody know how to open files in multiple sub directories without going through the individual directories.
For example I am working in a directory which has 6 sub directories all with files I want to be part of the workspace.
Maybe I am missing something obvious, but the only was I have found is to use the open-all option in the search results window.
