Is Textpad forgetful?

Is it just me or are others having a license problem with version 4.4.1?

Every time I restart Textpad it asks me for my license information. I enter it and it is accepted, yet next time I go to use Textpad the license information is apparently missing.

It is as if Textpad keeps deleting the key from the registry.

This is usually caused by your profile settings and is most common on NT. When I had it happen (on 4.22), I just made myself an administrator and voilà, it worked fine :)

I've seen this happen under Windows 98 when someone upgraded from 4.4 to 4.4.1.

As far as I could tell it had nothing to do with priveledges, it was just Textpad deleting the license key from the registry.

Don't know any way around it. Sorry. :(

Dear SBF

Please send in your license details so we can try to recreate this problem. Please mail them to support@textpad.com

Kind Regards

Heidi

I have noticed that this problem occurs when you close Textpad 4.4.1 using the "X" at the top right of the screen in Windows. When you quit out of the program using "File, Quit", Textpad remains registered.

Yes, this does occur in versions of Textpad past 4.1. I tried to upgrade to 4.5.0, but the license doesn't stick. What happens is the following:

1. I enter the license code, and it creates the proper registry entries in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Helios\TextPad 4\License

2. I exit out of the program (via Alt+F4, the "X", or File -> Exit), then bring it back up.

3. Textpad deletes the forementioned registry key every time.

FYI, I'm using Win2000. My apologies for not giving a legit E-mail address, just an anti-spam habit . . . Lou
