Textpad's trippin'

Post by J.R. »

I use TextPad version 4.3.1 with Windows 2000 and there's a problem with the interface. The section where I actually type works and looks fine but at the top of the screen where the icons would be it's transparent showing what was on my screen before I opened TextPad. In other words let's say I'm staring at the desktop and then I click on my TextPad icon in the toolbar, TextPad will open but you can see the blue from the desktop through the top of the screen instead of the tools icons for TextPad. The menus (File, Edit, Search, View etc.) can be seen but the space between them and the area where you type shows whatever I was on last. This is a pretty annoying problem. I've tried uninstalling TextPad and reinstalling it and it still didn't work. Any ideas?

JR,

I am using TextPad 4.40 on Windows 2000 SP-1. It's working just fine for me.

Try
1 -- Applying W2k Service Pack 1, if you haven't already
2 -- Upgrade to the latest version of TextPad
3 -- Upgrade to the latest version of the bios and video drivers for your workstation

Hope this helps,

Please see the previous post:

http://www.textpad.com/forum/read.php?f=1&i=406&t=405

Please try the following:

1) Exit from TextPad
2) Click Start/Run and run REGEDIT.EXE
3) Expand the path
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Helios\TextPad 4.
Be very careful that you select the correct key.
4) Select the key labelled "Docking" and delete it.

That key will be recreated the next time you run TextPad, but you will lose any custom changes you have made to any toolbars.

Hope that helps.

Same fix applied as to me; but why is this happening and why isn't there an FAQ so that one wouldn't have to search this forum to fix what seems to be a not uncommon problem?

-using 4.7.3, this was still a problem. Deleting the Docking key resolved it.
