why can i not complie my java program

when i go into tools on the tools bar there is on complie or run option why not and what do i do to complie and run my program

Hi Sue
This is explained in our help files.
1. Select the Help menu in TextPad.
2. Select Help Topics.
3. Select the index tab.
4. Type JDK as the keyword click the Display button.
5. Select "How to Use with the Java Development Kit".

thanks for that but i still dont understand how to complie or run my programs i did what you said but how do i get my programs to complie and run from textpad as i use textpad in college i have not got this problem in college as complie and run are located in "tools".

Sue, after you do what is described on the help page Heidi told you to look at, the commands should be there (unless you leave the Preferences dialog via Cancel).
I just tried it with my textpad and it worked.
