Printing under Win2k with Textpad 4.4.0

No matter what I do I cannot print anything using the non-default printer.
Sometimes the printer dialog does come up but nothing ever prints. Othertimes, the dialog doesn't appear at all.
I'm using a HP Laserjet 8000 printer (both PCL and PS printers installed).
It's driving me nuts.
If I try to select a printer in the default document class, the printer dialog doesn't appear. same thing with .txt document class.
Now if I select the HP 8K as the default printer. Everthing is fine. I do not have 'restart with default printer' selected in the document class print properties.
So does this seem like a problem or am I just brain-farting on a Monday morning?
