Command Results Hyperlinks

When using a Perl tool (thanks Alan) I find with compile errors that the Command Results sometimes permits jumping to the offending source line, and sometimes not.

I presume that the Configure > Preferences > Tools > (perltool) > "Regular expresion to match output" and the Registers govern the ability of TexPad to make the jumps.

1) What should the settings be to permit "source jumping"?
2) If I alternate my TextPad Preferences > Editor > Regex-flavor between POSIX and non-POSIX, do I have to manually make the translation to my tools' Command Output Regex strings?
3) Do Perlites using TextPad usually prefer the POSIX flavor? I'd like any testimonials in favor of Bush and Gore -er- I mean Coke and Pepsi -er- I mean POSIX and non-POSIX.

Thanks!

I am also interested in understanding the POSIX / non-POSIX debate. I have found myself become comfortable with the default TextPad behavior, which is non-POSIX. I've not really tried to use POSIX.

What is the advantage or disadvantages to POSIX and non-POSIX? Does one or the other restrict you in some way? Is it really just a coke/pepsi thing (a matter of taste)?

And, oh yes, are there any good online sources that fully document either POSIX or non-POSIX syntax. Are there any good sites that describe/debate the difference between the two?

Thanks!
